Family Engagement on Looping

Hawkwood School has practiced “Looping” as an organizational strategy for several years. This means that homeroom classes stay together as a cohort, along with the teacher, for two years. This occurs in grade 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6.

We are interested in knowing more about your experiences with looping.  Specifically, what some of the benefits and or challenges your child may have experienced when they looped.

Kindergarten Registration

If you live in Hawkwood or Sage Hill and have a child that was born in the 2019 calendar year, they are eligible to attend kindergarten at Hawkwood School in the Fall of 2024. Registration for CBE Kindergarten classes opened on January 15th. All registrations are completed online with all of the necessary  information accessible on the CBE Registration Page.

The 7 Elements of Art

What is the difference between Art and Math? Sometimes nothing!

Ms. Palsich’s grade 1 class explored some of the seven elements of Art, specifically shape, line and colour. In addition to many learner outcomes from the Art curriculum, they also incorporated some grade one Math concepts including recognizing curved and straight lines, recognizing and creating regular and irregular shapes. Maybe in the future we will see projects that include the other four elements of Art; texture, form, space and value.
