Spring Break - No School March 23 - 27
Monday, March 23 is the first day of our annual Spring Break. Students return to classes on Monday, March 30th. One of the positive aspects of living in Calgary is there are lots of opportunities to keep school-age students busy during breaks from school.
If you are looking to keep the kids moving, accessing community trails, parks and green spaces is easy and free. Depending on the weather, there are also lots of indoor options including Flying Squirrel, Vortex YYC or the Calgary Climbing Centre.
If activating your child’s curiosity is on the menu, checking out the Calgary Public Library and their many free programs might be a good idea. Telus Spark or the Hangar Flight Museum are also great options..
The weather this time of year can fluctuate significantly making planning adventures challenging. If you are more inclined to stay indoors, some good options include The Big Box Play Centre or Sky Castle.
More creative local options like pottery or painting while on break include Pinnovate DIY and Art Studio or maybe the Colour Cafe.
Have a great Spring Break and we will see you back at school on Monday, March 30th
What Can the Stars Tell Us?
Some of our grade 4 classes recently dug into this question and were surprised by some of the answers. Things like their names, how they are named, some of the mythical stories surrounding them as well as the fact that even though they are so far away, you can use them to navigate your way around our planet. Students also created beautiful constellation art that they shared with everyone.
Could Dinosaurs Be Helpful?
Our Kindies explored some possible answers to this question recently after reading a book by Bernard Most entitled, If The Dinosaurs Came Back. Some amazing ideas were shared as the students thought about ways dinosaurs could help us if they were still around today. Most anything is possible when you are a young Paleontologist.
Have a great break!
