Welcome to Hawkwood School!
We are very excited to welcome all of our new staff and students to Hawkwood School for the 2026-2027 school year. We are also happy to see all the familiar faces from previous years.
Most of our staff have been working for the last week or two to ensure a smooth and positive start to the school year for our students and families. There are a lot of moving parts starting a school year with 700 students and more than 400 families, so there are bound to be some wrinkles along the way.
The best way to avoid unforeseen issues is to stay tuned to what is happening at school and in your child’s class. The best way to do that is to monitor your email and your child’s Google Classroom, which gets updated at least once per week, with upcoming events, learning adventures and the occasional to-do. Email, Google classroom and our weekly Blog (every Friday) are our first point of contact when it comes to communication.
Don't Miss Out on School Messages!
Due to federal legislation (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, or CASL), parents/guardians must subscribe to continue receiving commercial electronic messages from their child’s school and the CBE. These include messages on school topics such as picture days, student fees, field trip costs, yearbooks, fun lunches, fundraisers and more.
Go to https://calgary.schoolmessenger.com/cbe_subscribe to enter your email address and click Subscribe. Please enter the same email address where you receive other school messages and that you use to log into MyCBE, if applicable. (Note: the link will open outside of CBE's website.)
Important Learning Environments
Professional educators have many different types of responsibilities. This time of year one of their most important is creating a safe and positive learning environment. Our homeroom teachers will invest a tremendous amount of time and energy over the first couple of weeks building classroom communities that foster learning, growth, equity and safety. This work is guided by the CBE Administrative Regulation, AR 6031.

Meet The Teacher - Save the Date - Sep. 17th!
Be sure to stop by the school to meet your child’s teacher and check out their classroom on Thursday, Sep. 17th. Homeroom teachers will be sharing presentations at 6:30 and 7:00 about all aspects of their class this school year. There will also be important information shared by both Hawkwood School Council and School Administration.
Come and learn about daily routines, communication, Google Classrooms, Field Trips and even more. Also, a great time to ask questions.
Transportation - Bussing
If you have recently registered for yellow school bus transportation for your child, you may have to wait until the registration gets processed. In previous years, transportations services would let students ride while their registration was being processed, but this is no longer the case. You will receive an email from CBE Transportation confirming your registration, as well as the start date. Your child will not be eligible to ride the bus to or from school until that date.
