Grade 5 Safety Expo

This week, the Grade 5’s got to participate in the kickoff of the Mayor’s Safety Expo, along with the Energy & Electricity program from Inside Education. Our students got to hear from Enmax about electrical safety, as well as CPS and YouthLink about digital security. We also were lucky enough to have representatives and mascots from Calgary Fire Department, 9-1-1, Calgary Humane Society, CEMA & AEDARSA. Thank you to all of these groups for spending time with us at Hawkwood School.

Grade 4 Toy Fair

The students in Mrs. Symington and Mrs. Campbell's Grade 4 classrooms hosted a Toy Fair at Hawkwood School. Students were tasked to apply their knowledge of simple machines to create a toy that moves. Students had to design a prototype, build a toy out of recycled materials, test, and modify their designs. The best part was that they shared their creations with the whole school as teachers took their classes through to see and play with what the students had created. Thank you grade 4’s, it was fun.

Annual Hawkwood School Read-a-Thon

Our Hawkwood School Council partners are once again bringing us this year’s Read-a-Thon from March 8th - 17th. One of the most impactful things that students can do is to spend time reading. We are very happy that our friends and partners at the Hawkwood School Council and Friends of Hawkwood School Society support this each year by organizing our Read-a-Thon.
