Our parent group partners are starting off September with a bang with a Fun Lunch and their first Movie Night of the School year.

Grade 1 Community Garden Adventures

What signs does nature show us that the seasons are changing?

The curriculum areas of exploring community, landmarks, belonging and seasonal changes inspired The Grade One Team to walk over to the Hawkwood Community Garden. 

Students were encouraged to observe, explore and investigate the harvest of vegetables and flowers that students planted last spring and make indigenous connections with Na’a (Mother Earth) with a quiet standing spot using our senses to connect with the space. 

As the seasons change, the Grade One Team will return and revisit the Hawkwood Community Garden to observe, explore and investigate how the plants, animals, weather and people’s clothing change to accommodate each changing season.

As a school community, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a special place close to our school where students and staff can visit frequently to anchor our connections to the land across all curricular learning areas.
