Don’t Miss Out on School Messages
We use SchoolMessenger to send email, text (SMS) and voice messages from our school and from the CBE. Here are some steps you can take if you're missing some of our messages.
Subscribe For Commercial Messages
Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, parents and guardians need to subscribe online to receive some email and text messages on topics like student fees, picture days, field trip costs, yearbooks, fun lunches and more.
Make Sure Your Email Address is Correct
If you’re not getting any email messages from us, your email address may be missing or incorrect in our system. If you're not sure, email us so we can confirm or update your email address.
Fix a Blocked Email Address
If your email address is correct but messages still aren't getting through, our emails may be blocked from getting to you. Blocks can happen if you intentionally or accidentally tag an email as spam or junk, or sometimes when your email server senses that an email is coming from an electronic mailing system and tries to prevent spamming and block our emails. Follow these three steps to unblock your email address.
1. Add these emails to your Safe Senders list:
- cbecommunications@cbe.ab.ca
- transportation@cbe.ab.ca
- studentfees@cbe.ab.ca
- hawkwood@cbe.ab.ca
- your child'steacher's email address
School Transitions
We hope the first few days transitioning back to school have gone well for your children and your family. There is always lots to remember, particularly if you have multiple children, and or more than one school to deal with. This is where routines become our friends. Children, as we know, respond very well to routines, and the quicker they can settle into new ones, the better for everyone. Here are a few quick reminders about some of our routines that we hope will help establish some new routines quickly.
Bell Times
Morning - 9:05 Flex Entry, students may come inside if they choose to
Supervision begins at 9:05. There is no supervision inside or outside prior to this time
Afternoon - 3:47 Buses are loaded and pull out at 3:57. There is no supervision provided
after this time. If you are picking up, please have an established meeting
place close to your child's exit door.
Bussing
We have seven buses from three different bussing providers. All students riding the bus must be registered for transportation. All information related to bussing can be found on the CBE Transportation Page.
Pick Up & Drop Off
With over 740 students, pick up and drop off time can get very busy on the street and in our crosswalks and on. Please pay attention and only park in designated areas. Our bus zone is bigger this year and extends eastward beyond our central crosswalk to accommodate for our 7th bus. Please do not pick up or drop off students in our parking lot. With staff parking, special needs busses, deliveries and maintenance vehicles, it becomes a very dangerous place for students.
