Walk Zone Changes for the 2025-2026 School Year

The CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones for the upcoming school year. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025.

Transportation eligibility distance and how it is calculated is changing and will now be measured by driving distance instead of walking distance. That means next year, more students will become eligible to take the bus and school walk zones will look different.

Is my child eligible for yellow bus service to and from school next year? Everything you need to know to answer this question, can be found on the CBE Walk Zone Changes Page

Yellow School Bus Next Year? Register Now!

It takes a tremendous amount of time and coordination to transport over 30,000 students to and from school every day. In order for the CBE Transportation Department to create bus routes, bus stops, pick up and drop-off times, they need accurate information.

If you are thinking that your children will take the yellow bus to and from school next year, you need to register now. All of the information you need can be found on the CBE Register for Yellow School Bus Service page.

Hawkwood School Scientists

Several Hawkwood School students sharpened up their scientific method skills recently by participating in the Calgary Youth Science Fair. There were 6 projects from our students who did a great job representing our school.
