Professional Learning Day - Friday, May 16th - No Classes
Things get ramped up as we approach the final month of the school year. The final pieces of data outlined in our school development plan get developed. This includes but is not limited to data from provincial assessments, student surveys, report cards and in-class assessments. This data story starts to generate questions like:
How have our literacy interventions impacted identified students?
Do our students feel safe at school? How do we know?
Has the implementation of new curriculums impacted learning?
The next step is for us to examine the answers to these questions, and start planning next steps for the coming school year. Knowing what we have learned this year, what can we put in place next year to meet our students' needs?
This is the work we will be starting during our Professional Learning Day on Friday, May 16th. The nature of our work as educators has become increasingly more collaborative over the years. The time required to generate common understandings and strategies relative to task design, assessment and social-emotional health is more important than ever.
Art Expresses Many Things
In addition to expressing many different aspects of what our students are learning in all curriculums, Art projects also build the skill sets, including fine motor, of our students. Here are some examples of using water color to convey landscapes that were recently completed by Ms. Drummond and Ms. McGrath’s grade 5 class.
There is nothing more self-expressive than creating a self-portrait. Thank you to Ms. Bakker’s and Ms. Alm’s Kindergarten classes for sharing their masterpieces.
