Music Outside

Have any of your children ever tried to learn a musical instrument? Have you ever heard a class of 30 students try to learn a musical instrument at the same time? Warmer Spring weather is not only nice, it also provides a great opportunity for students to learn and practice their recorders. Ms. MacDonald is taking advantage of some warmer mornings to work with her recorder groups outside in the sunshine where the joy of recorder learning can be shared with the local Hawkwood neighborhood.

Grade 3 Social Studies

Part of our grade 3 Social Studies curriculum includes examining characteristics of food, language, culture and traditions and how they present differently in communities in different parts of the world.

Recently, Ms. Colwell’s grade 3 class made Pysanky Eggs for their inquiry project on Ukraine. In addition to researching the geography and economy of Ukraine, students learn "How  identity  is reflected in traditions, celebrations, stories and customs in the communities? Easter is an important celebration in Ukraine where Pysanky easter eggs are created and students are enjoying creating project work covering all these important topics.

Have a great week!
