System Labour Action Update

We are very happy to share that the recent labour action has come to an end. Our school custodial staff are back at work as of today, March 21st.

Pirates The Musical

Sometimes doing something different is intimidating. Sometimes learning something new can be scary. While both of these things are true, it is also true that learning and trying new things can be exciting and a lot of fun.

We are very proud of our grade 4-6 students who participated in our Pirates The Musical drama production this week. Two months of work produced our first ever school musical. It was an idea turned into action by our newly formed school drama team of Ms. MacDonald, Ms. Christiansen, Ms. Raude, Mrs. Connell, Ms. Williams and Ms. Li. With a salty cast and scurvy crew of over 80 students plus stage crew, the shows for the school and for cast families were a triumph. We even had some parent volunteers help out with stage makeup and costumes. It is also important to note that this production would not have been possible without the upgraded sound system that has been supported by our Hawkwood School Council and Friends of Hawkwood School Society.

When you have a team of educators who create the conditions and a group of students willing to take the risks, amazing things can happen. Congratulations Pirates!!

Spring Break

Remember there will be no classes from Monday, March 24th through to Friday, March 28th. We will welcome students back to school on Monday, March 31st.
