What Does Narrative Writing Look Like in Grade 3?

Most adults forget just how long it took them to learn how to write effectively. It is a process that takes years with students adding to and improving their skill set in each grade all the way through to high school and beyond.

Recently, Ms. Wishart’s grade 3 students took their next steps in refining their narrative writing skills. This included working specifically on beginnings and endings, and adding things like adjectives, conjunctions and sequencing words.

They based this narrative work on the book Tillie and the Wall by Leo Lionni and

created books with original front covers depicting their mouse character, a dedication and an About the Author section.
