The 2026-2027 Instructional Calendar
The first day of school for students is Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. The instructional calendar can be found HERE.
Feedback regarding students starting school prior to the September long weekend was considered in the development of the 2026–27 school year calendar. However, because Labour Day falls later in September in 2026 (Sep. 7), it was not possible to schedule the start of classes after the long weekend.
The development of instructional calendars is guided by current legislation, provincial examination schedules, and stakeholder feedback. Each calendar includes a minimum of 181 instructional days, as well as 10 system-wide days allocated for parent-teacher conferences, professional development, and other organizational activities.

Kindergarten Registration 2026-2027
Do you have a child who might be ready for Kindergarten next year? Most of our families have many questions as they start to think about their child heading to school for the first time.

It is important to remember that , like all other grade levels at Hawkwood School, since we are a “closed” status school, we are only accepting Kindergarten students who reside in the communities of Hawkwood or Sage Hill.
